See You at the Movies

Snowmass’ nighttime cinematic experience returns with the Movies Under the Stars outdoor film series this summer starting June 29. Taking place at dusk on most Saturdays June through August, moviegoers will enjoy a diverse range of classic films, including “The Lorax,” “WALL-E,” “The Little Rascals,” “Top Gun” and "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial".

All shows take place at The Rink in Snowmass Base Village (49 Wood Rd, Snowmass Village, CO).

9:00 P.M. SATURDAY, JUNE 29
The lorax

Twelve-year-old Ted lives in a place virtually devoid of nature; no flowers or trees grow in the town of Thneedville. Ted would very much like to win the heart of Audrey, the girl of his dreams but to do this, he must find that which she most desires: a Truffula tree. After hearing the story of the now-extinct trees, Ted decides he will find one. Through his search, he discovers the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who speaks for the trees.

WALL-E

WALL-E is the last robot left on Earth. He spends his days tidying up the planet, one piece of garbage at a time. But during 700 years, WALL-E has developed a personality and he's more than a little lonely. Then he spots EVE, a sleek and shapely probe sent back to Earth on a scanning mission. Smitten WALL-E embarks on his greatest adventure yet when he follows EVE across the galaxy.

the little rascals

Mischievous youngsters Spanky and Buckwheat lead an anti-girl organization and they pick their buddy Alfalfa to represent them in an all-important soapbox car rally. When the boys then find their driver canoodling with schoolmate Darla, they decide they must break up the couple. Unfortunately, while Spanky and his pals are busy meddling in Alfalfa's affairs, their prized race car is nabbed by two young troublemakers.

Top Gun

The Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School is where the best of the best train to refine their elite flying skills. When hotshot fighter pilot Maverick is sent to the school, his reckless attitude and cocky demeanor put him at odds with the other pilots, especially the cool and collected Iceman. But Maverick isn't only competing to be the top fighter pilot, he's also fighting for the attention of his beautiful flight instructor, Charlotte Blackwood.

9:00 P.M. SATURDAY, August 17
E.T. the Extra-terrestrial

After a gentle alien becomes stranded on Earth, the being is discovered and befriended by a young boy named Elliott. Bringing the extraterrestrial into his suburban California house, Elliott introduces E.T., as the alien is dubbed, to his brother and little sister, and the children decide to keep its existence as a secret. Soon however, E.T. falls ill resulting in government intervention and a dire situation for both Elliott and the alien. 


SEATING:
Reservations are not required and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. It is recommended that moviegoers arrive early, save their space and enjoy all Base Village has to offer until the movie begins.
 
FOOD AND BEVERAGES:
Picnics and non-alcoholic beverages may be carried in. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase from Mawita and the Limelight Hotel only, with food available for purchase at any Base Village restaurant.
