TAARKA “Gypsy Jazz Family Band”
Described as “a collision between Django Reinhardt and David Grisman” (SF Weekly), the Pelta-Tiller Trio strikes a balance between swing and jazz classics, modern and classic Jazz Manouche (Gypsy Jazz) tunes, Brazilian choro, and their own well-crafted songs and spirited instrumentals. Jazz violinist and singer, Enion Pelta-Tiller, guitarist/mandolinist David Tiller, and their son, award-winning youth jazz bassist, Aesop Pelta-Tiller create a lively sound together, and follow in the footsteps of Django Reinhardt and his descendants by playing with a rhythmic cohesiveness enhanced by their family ties. The Pelta-Tiller Trio and their folk alter-ego, Taarka, has travelled throughout North America and Europe, playing festivals and concerts such as the Vancouver Music Festival, Telluride Bluegrass, Music City Roots, and the Philadelphia Folk Festival, and shared stages and collaborated with artists including Ron Miles and Paul Hanson, Mike Marshall, Darol Anger, and many others.
