“Voices of the Collective” Live Storytelling Event

September 17, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Collective will host its final live storytelling event of the summer, “Voices of the Collective Part 2,” on Sunday, September 17, with Writ Large founder Alya Howe. Enjoy a free evening showcasing local storytellers who will share their potent, thought-provoking, and authentic tales as part of a collaboration to deepen our understanding of our local communities.

Building upon a long-standing tradition of captivating live storytelling events in the valley, Writ Large has touched the hearts of countless storytellers and listeners. Howe acknowledges the extraordinary power of stories as an ancient form of communication, forging connections among individuals and fostering stronger bonds within our community and environment.

Meet your storytellers:

  • Diego Gonzales, a Mexico City native, moved to the US at age 19 where he now is a radio host on KDNK Radio, a salsa DJ and financial advisor. He also embraces comedy, theater and spending time with his wife and kids. Balancing diverse roles for 18 years, he’s woven a unique tapestry of life across borders.
  • A nature-loving visionary, Kristen Moray bridges lifestyle and deep connections, aiding others through fear. Introduced to the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition in 2017, Kirsten embraced earth-honoring shamanic practices. Now, with the Crystal Blanket, she shares healing through natural-based quantum tech, blending career with passion, embodying Earth Mother’s balance.
  • Ben Gottlieb is a Californian, born and raised on the beaches of LA. After college in Oregon, his backcountry skiing passion led him to Wyoming’s snow and then he returned to LA to begin a career as a lifeguard. After 16 years splitting seasons between Aspen and California, he’s a rescuer turned family man, living with his family in Aspen. He owns and operates Benergy Adventure Services, a travel service agency, and teaches swimming lessons between family adventures.
  • Trina Ortega, Ranch Manager at Coal Basin Ranch, also freelances as a writer and editor. She’s a poet of Aspen’s Poetry Brothel, where she and fellow poets auction poems for a cause. She is on an eclectic journey, blending roles and community service while she defines her path.
  • A newcomer to Colorado, Mike Rutkowski moved to the valley in 2022 from New Jersey after retiring from a career in marketing and sales. Being a member of Toastmasters International fueled his passion for storytelling. Now, he savors a year-round adult summer camp vibe living in the valley—staying active, relishing outdoor pursuits and fostering community connections.

Seating is first-come, first-served. RSVPs are not required. Free parking is available in the Snowmass Base Village Parking Structure.
