Deeply rooted in old-time, folk and traditional American music, The Mile Markers are a modern American roots band based in Denver, Colorado. The power of The Mile Markers rests squarely on the riveting vocal interplay and lyrical craftsmanship of the groups founding members Julie Stratton (guitar/vocals) and Bevin Foley (fiddle/vocals). Lee Patterson of the Buffalo Grass Acoustic Society put it well when he said “This well-balanced and powerful duo has a stylistic maturity and sophistication well beyond their ages. The duet’s vocals are expressive, nuanced and so in-sync that it seemed I was hearing one mind, singing through two voices. Acoustic beauty like theirs is a rare find.” The group is further rounded out and supported by the rollicking and clever stylings of banjo player Sal Clark and bassist Nicki Handy. From Moab, Utah to Chicago, Illinois to the pacific northwest, The Mile Markers continue to build an ever-growing base of fans and friends anywhere their musical travels take them.

Julie Stratton: vocals, guitar
Julie began writing songs in 1996 under the guidance of Celeste Krenz and has since grown into her own voice. She takes the everyday ups and downs of life and creates beautiful stories of love, loss and laughter. A gifted singer, audiences often find themselves in a trance under the melodic spell of her voice.

Bevin Foley: vocals, fiddle
Bevin’s handling of the fiddle creates the illusion of a third voice on stage. She had the pleasure of joining many performers on stage. Such as Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, Jeff Austin of Yonder Mountain String Band, Benny Galloway, Trampled by Turtles, Pert Near Sand Stone, and Blue Turtle Seduction. She has also had the pleasure of touring with the bands Mountain Standard Time and Victor Barnes.

Sal Clark: vocals, banjo
Sal began playing the piano at an early age and began cultivating a deep love for music. While living in the mountains she began to play clawhammer banjo. She adds a depth to the songs of The Mile Markers with her vocal harmonies. She also is becoming a banjo playing powerhouse, helping to drive the songs and add a bit of spunk.
