ACES Wild Perspectives: A Naturalist’s Account of Wildlife in Tanzania

About the Presentation

In the summer of 2023, Jeb had the opportunity to return to northern Tanzania with his family for a photo safari. Take a photographic journey with Jeb and his family on the “Northern Safari Circuit” of Tanzania. In his presentation, Jeb will discuss the wildlife of east Africa, the wildebeest migration of Serengeti National Park, and Tanzania’s approach to conservation and ecotourism.

About the Speaker

Jeb Hines earned his degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from Clemson University, Jeb spent time in Tanzania studying issues of human/wildlife conflict and participating in field work doing wildlife population counts. He has also spent time in Namibia, participating in wildlife management projects. When he finished his research, Jeb came to Aspen as an ACES Naturalist in 2019 where he continued his pursuits of understanding wildlife, especially through working extensively with training ACES’ resident Golden Eagle. His interests are in mega fauna, birds of prey, conservation, and history. He has been a high school science teacher at Basalt Elementary School since 2022.
